Flip live on may 6th

Hohoho! Looks like I’m going to play at the spring party of the wagenplatz Scheffel! It’s going to be a highly enjoyable afternoon in the green with minigolf (yess), cool drinks, cakes, vegan burgers, a plants tombola, and a whole program of live music, including yours truly.
I may even manage to post the flyer of the event at some point…
See you there!

Scheffelstr. 21A Berlin, may 6th from 15:00.

What the heck is it all about?

Just in case you wondered… So here’s a lil’bit of bullshitology© to present this project:

Flip Le Doof is a pseudo-traditional one-mensch-band hailing from Nextdoorland via Berlin. With the aid of one* 5 string banjo, about two feet, as many lungs and a whole lot of electronic devices (PLUS a tambourine), he shakes, dusts and revives the Old Time traditional appalachian music, mixing/clashing it with different contemporary styles (though not grindcore as of yet), trying to bring it new directions and perspectives.  The outcome is often distorted, may be somehow danceable, is sometimes chaotic, or happy, or not so happy, and despite or because of this somehow true to the original.

* ok I own two of them

A not-so-trad piece

This is a track I somehow completely forgot about after having recorded it back in 2014. How far can you get from tradition in banjo music? Well have some distortion, tons of delay, more reverb and a scratchy wha in the mix and there you go… Unfortunately unplayable live (to this point) due to rampant feedback issues.
